Introducing the Field Based School of Biblical Studies
The nine month School of Biblical Studies (SBS) is now available in an e-learning format to enable YWAM staff to take the course part time while continuing with their base/team ministries and responsibilities. The Field Based SBS (fbSBS) is a dynamic way for YWAM staff to participate in a fully accredited University of the Nations SBS that can be studied part time at a base or team location. Each month of the residential school is extended to a three month module requiring ten to twelve hours a week of study. There is a set start time and finish time for each module with a module leader who will not only be a tutor and support throughout the module, but will also create community with the other students who are on the course.

Individual YWAM staff who have a passion to know more of God’s word and ways.
Whole teams to work on together or as part of a team training strategy.
Integrating into existing base training curriculum to provide a dynamic biblical studies element.
The Field Based School of Biblical Studies
The nine month SBS is one of the most exciting schools in YWAM’s University of the Nations. This school is now accessible to many more people through this Field Based e-learning format. It uses the powerful inductive approach to Bible study. On completion of the school the student will not only be proficient in using the tools and skills of effective Bible study, but would have applied those skills to every book of the Bible. Understanding the significance of the various kinds of biblical literature and the original setting and culture of each book are an integral part of the inductive approach. The application of scripture, both into one’s personal life and ministry, and into the wider spheres of society are the purpose and specific goal of all of our study. Studying the course alongside base/team responsibilities brings the added dynamic for immediate application of the study into ministry situations.
The prerequisites for the fbSBS are:
The successful completion of a DTS.
Active involvement in a YWAM base or team community.
Active participation in the base or team worship and intercession times.
The agreement of the base or team leader to release you for 10-12 hours a week of work time to study.
Access to the internet and email.
It is estimated that about 10-12 hours a week will be needed to complete the work required; for some this might be less, for some more. It is expected that if the base or team leader releases the student for this amount of time each week, any more time for the course would need to be found by the student from their ‘own’ time. Please note that due to the steep learning curve during the first module, the time needed for this module might be more.
Successful completion of modules 1-3 is the equivalent to CCM311 (first term of the residential SBS), modules 4-6 CCM312 (second term of the residential SBS) and modules 7-9 CCM 313 (third term of the residential SBS). Each earns 12 credits with the University of the Nations, 36 credits in total.
